“It’s always the fear of looking stupid that stops you from being
awesome.”
The Selection by Kiera Cass
Recognize the quote or the
author? Or maybe where it came from? Kudos to those who did because you’ve
encountered in your minds a good love adventure which is sure to end in The One. For those who don’t recognize
the quote slash author slash book where it came from, a double kudos to you!
Why? Because you’re about to be introduced to a new book that will bring fairy
tales back to life.
In this month of August, we
are selecting The Selection as the
featured book of SLP Amplified. I’m sure for all the book readers out there
that we’ve encountered more than our fair share of strong-willed protagonists
who refuse to be what society wants them to be, but you haven’t met the stubborn
but fascinating America Singer of The
Selection yet, who makes us stop—admittedly sometimes frustration—and prepare
for her endeavors as we turn each page of the novel.
If America isn’t enough,
need I bring a prince in the picture? Not that this is some kind of modern day
Cinderella story because Prince Charming has nothing on Prince Maxon. Prince
Charming is just…charming. But Prince Maxon is another case to be dealt with.
The Selection is a novel that depicts the power of social castes and limitations of
society while following a heroine who will unconsciously be thrust into situations
that will either surprise you, confuse you, or even aggravate you.
So I leave it to the fellow
bookworms and readers out there. If you’re into a frustrating yet wonderfully
created set of characters, a somewhat clash of the whimsical fairytale and harsh
reality, and an antagonist that will irritate you by just seeing her name,
brace yourselves and begin by selecting The
Selection.
