“Fate is an efficient and cruel tutor. There is no escape in stutter.”

In his work, Repetition, Phil Kaye shares his own struggles as a kid, dealing with his parent’s divorce and developing his stutter. As he narrates his own experience, he vividly explains and emphasizes the importance of words and the hardships of stuttering. Considered to be one of his best poems, Phil Kaye’s Repetition encourages us to not be wasteful of our words and our purpose; to not take for granted the beauty and splendor of both life and language.

Spoken Word Poetry is a developing literary movement taking the world by storm. What was once only popular in local coffee shops and pubs now grace competition halls and international conferences. Spoken word poetry is a fusion of the arts of literature and public speaking, forming a new creative blend of storytelling and teaching.

Phil Kaye is an award-winning poet, bagging championship titles from poetry slam competitions and poetry tours. He is also the co-founder of Project VOICE; a team of poets, entertainers, and writers, who teach spoken word poetry to kids and teenagers all over the world. They emphasize the importance of self-expression, encouraging students to tell their stories and share their ideas through poetry.
