General
assemblies, family and friendship days – these are what we look forward to
amidst the stress and frustrations of school work. Behind these amazingly
crafted stress relievers is a team that tirelessly runs papers, and extracts
every bit of artistic gene from their DNA. Despite all the workload, these
individuals never seem to run out of passion, hard work, and humor.
The
SLP Society Board is a whirlwind of inspiration and a dose of fun. Lucky
enough, we got a chance to ask them about their thoughts, aspirations, mantras,
and even knew who their favorite superheroes are!
What’s
your mantra in life?
As all SLP students and
professionals would agree, "everyone deserves a voice". As a SLP
student, my goal is just that. Another mantra I live by is "impossible is
nothing". Aside from this being Adidas' quote, I try to always put this
into action because I believe as long as you put your whole heart and mind into
something, you’ll be able to do anything you want, no matter how hard and
tiring.
Describe
yourself using S, L, and P.
Supportive, Laughable, and Passionate. Supporting my other EB with whatever project they suggest is basically what my position entails. It brings me joy to put into action and support their dreams for SLP Society. Laughable because laughing is my hobby, whether anxious or excited! I adore people who are passionate about what they do, so I try to be the same with academics and SLP society. Passion is what keeps me studying and planning events all week!
What’s
your mantra in life?
I've always believed that everything happens for a reason. Sometimes we encounter challenges in life in which we don't know how to solve them and why of all people it happened to you; but as you come to think of it, you'll realize along the way that your faith in God has deepened and you'll come to appreciate the simple things and the people around you. Dramatic it may seem but it has helped me to get through.
What’s the most
fulfilling thing about being a part of the SLP Society Board?
It is not easy to balance academics and the duties of an officer but when you see each member enjoy what you have planned for months, sometimes just weeks, or even days before, it makes everything worth it.
Who’s
your superhero?
I salute unsung
heroes like people who are helping others for the common good despite of having
their own burdens. One has to die in order to live. Devoting one's time, effort
as well as sharing one's passion to others, for me, count as heroic acts.
If you can
help change the world, what would you change first?
I
would change the pessimistic thinking of people in order to have good vibes and
optimism in all problems despite its gravity.
What’s your mantra in life?
I really liked the movie Meet the Robinsons as
it affected me deep so I’d go for “Keep moving forward!”
What’s the most fulfilling thing about being a part of the SLP Society
Board?
When we know
that the SLP family had a great time in our events and when they felt satisfied
with every project that we have. Because I know that the society worked hard
and gave so much effort in every project that we have/had; the papers that we
have to run and accomplish, deadlines to be met, props and designs for the
venue and so much more.
Who’s your superhero?
My mom would
always be my superhero. Because it always amazes me how she handles everything
while at the same time being a super cool mom. And I wouldn't be who I am now
if it weren't because of her.
I guess it’s
the superhero effect. It’s being able to do something for SLPs, kahit pa maliit
na bagay lang, like a talk or a seminar, a shirt, and a sweater. It’s a good
feeling when you see that they appreciate what you do. Aside from that, it’s
being able to know more about SLP.
courses natin at sa majors is different from what we see pag nasa Soc EB ka.
It’s like you are being exposed to the “realer” world of SLP. You will get to
meet various people na hindi mo alam na sila pala yung mga legendary people sa
SLP world, which for me is important because the SLP profession here in the
country started with them. Also, I can say that sa EB, we’re definitely a
family.
Iba talaga yung bond namin with each other, which
is good because you know that after our term, nandoon pa rin yung relationship.
What’s your mantra in life?
I cannot say
that I only live by one mantra, but all are based on my values and my faith in
God. I’m a firm believer that we are where we are meant to be, that God will
give us what we want and deserve at the right time, and that there is no
challenge given to us that we cannot handle. Basically I center everything on
God, but I don’t work with faith alone. Kailangan laging magkasama yung dasal
at gawa. As long as you’ve given your best, God will do the rest.
What’s the most fulfilling thing about being a part of the SLP Society
Board?
Taking an active part towards building a more
dynamic UST SLP FAMILY, and seeing SLP peeps get to know each other, laugh with
each other, make friends with each other, and grow with each other through our
events!
Who’s your superhero?
That would be my professors and my future
clients. I was deeply inspired by one of our professors who said that our
clients teach us, SLPs, how to have hope, how to have stronger faith; and that
while they are drawing strength from us, we are unconsciously drawing strength
from them too!
What’s
your mantra in life?
Describe
yourself using S, L, and P.
Sociable.
Pride.
Malaki yung sense of pride ko, pero not in a bad way.
Who’s
your superhero?
Kahit may problema kami,
never niya pinaramdam samin yun.
Tinuruan niya kami how to live on our own. Marunong kami mag-laba, mag-hugas ng
pinggan, kahit may kasambahay kami kasi gusto niya na may alam kami. I’m really
thankful for that kasi ngayon na malayo ako sakanila, hindi ako nahihirapan.
Who’s your superhero?
I guess that
would be Batman since he does not have super powers that make him inhuman but
he still makes a stand for crime and helps people.
What’s your mantra in life?
"Live now,
Life later."
Who’s your superhero?
Superman! He's
always been my hero. I know, generic, but he really is everything I want a hero
to be.
These heroes may be walking down the hallways
looking tired and stressed, but truth be told, they are behind the fun and bond
we all share. What’s more fabulous than that?
Don’t forget to say thank you to our dear SLP Society Executive Board
and spread the love!
