TARC AUDITORIUM, AUGUST 22,
2015 –Snakes, Ladders, and Paths is the theme for this academic year for the future
Speech Language Pathologists of the University of Santo Tomas. Inside the Thomas Aquinas Research Center,
students still arrived amidst the brewing storm and complex weather surrounding
the campus. SLP Department Chair, Ma. Georgina D. Mojica, started the event
with her inspiring opening remarks.
Former SLP student and now
a member of the faculty, Sir Jonathan Gerona, shared the reason why he chose
the program, as well as the challenges that came with the profession. Being
patient with clients, having lack of sleep, and accounts of early commutes were
just some of the stories that gave a realistic perspective that every action
must have a corresponding passion.
The hosts of the event, Bai
Abdullah (2SLP), RC Dionisio (1SLP) and Theodee Ann Lor (4SLP), spiced things
up with “hugot” lines and hyped introductions. Phyllicia Mercado (2SLP) also
led one of the segments in which students were asked to share why they chose
the program and their story. SLP interns, Courtney Chua and Terrence Piodos
(5SLP), ended the segment by sharing their experience with their catchy line,
“Mahirap, pero kakayanin.”
