The
UST Speech Language Pathology Society held the first part of their community
development project titled, libREHAB: The
SLPlay! Series: Language Learning Made Fun last September 5, 2015 at the
Order of Saint Ursula (Ursuline), Fairview, Quezon City.
That
morning, the students of 4SLP prepared their toys, flash cards, and books as
they warmed up for their first assessment. The group was warmly welcomed by a
group of parents and guardians introducing their children and companions to the
4th year students.
During the
assessment, the SLP students were able to skillfully handle their assigned
tasks while enjoying the company of the kids who played with different toys and
gadgets. Sister Bernadette Ercih, the head of Ursuline, was thrilled to welcome
the SLP family in their small community. The students’ dedication to listen and
understand the parents and the patients were enough to show their passion for
the profession. The day ended with a prayer and again, the kids, along with
their parents, gave a big round of applause for the future therapists.
